Junior Golf Camp - Summer Fun

We've had a busy and fun week around here.  And, apparently our little visitors are finally worn out enough that I have no early risers this morning (just enough time for a quick post)!!  Ha!  It has been Golf Camp every morning; and man, oh, man, has it been HOT for the little guys!  Summer really hit this week!

But, then, there was pool time for cool down in the afternoon!.

They've been working on their swimming skills...

As well as their golf skills!  This will be the last morning for Golf Camp.  I think they're ready!  Ha!

I do so love me some Little Men Love.

I hope each of you are having a busy, fun start to summer, too!!

The Good, The Bad, and The UGHHHH...

The Good of this story is the finished product of Lost in Time.  I love its big old softness!  Like a giant colorful hug.

I finished it a couple of weeks ago, but we have been in a frenzy of activities...

A couple of birthday celebrations, a wedding, a couple of golf tournaments and TWO Old Girls to made ready and re-lease.  Plus, several other fun and not fun things.  You know how that goes.

So, here's The Bad... or sometimes I don't think it's too bad... then, again, I do.  Since our LYS closed, I find myself ordering stuff online... like this kit from Lion Brand, Shaded Eyelets.  I'm pretty sure I would never have picked these colors on my own... Sometimes, I hate them.  Sometimes, I think they will be okay.

Either way, it has gotten me to knitting again.  The Rabbit Hole of Crochet has held me hostage.  Ha!  I even resorted to getting out my Old School rosewood straight needles (long weaned off to circular lace-tips) to tempt me and change things up.  I had forgotten the nice feel of these.  Do wish I were more excited about the project.  ;)

Then, there is The UGHHHH!  Not too bad all rolled up...

But, I just DO NOT like this one.  Too much contrast, too quickly.  I had so enjoyed the two other colorways of this Shawl in a Ball yarn.  But, this one is just UGHHH!

Hope you are all having wonderful, busy summer days!  I love how long the days are but still need longer ones (IF I had the energy!  Ha!).

Lost in Time...

The name of this pattern is Lost in Time by Johanna Lindahl.  I think it is because it is designed to have a vintage feel.  But, one could also imagine it is because you can lose yourself (timewise) while working on it.  The pattern is very clear and easy to follow.  I'm just already dreading weaving in the ends from every color change.  Arrrghhh...  Final opinion of this one is TBD.

Just had to share this cute little table decoration from a golf tournament recently.  If those little critters don't make you smile... well, you are just having a really bad day.  Ha!

I've been enjoying many WHITE blossoms.  This bloom is on a clipping I received from a friend only a few weeks ago!  She said the name of the plant is Queen of the Night; I imagine because you can only see the blossoms late at night (or, as for me, EARLY in the morning).

I enjoyed seeing these beautiful rays through the dark clouds while walking down hole #5 this weekend!  Probably shouldn't have even been out there with the forecast and I have to admit I DID end up getting wet!  But, oh, it was gorgeous!  Unfortunately, the downpour ended my round halfway through hole #8.

I can't begin to say how much I've savored the sight and scent of these gardenias!  Smells heavenly out our back door!

Albert Einstein:
  • “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
  • “Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”
  • “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.”
  • “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

I found this little collection of quotes on a Ravelry page.  Loved them all, but have been most captured by the last one.   Isn't that the truth?!

Have a wonderful week.

Sunday Visitors...

We were blessed by a visit from The Little Men & Co. on Sunday to celebrate Mother's Day and Pop Pop's birthday (a bit belated).  The day was absolutely perfect for a picnic!  I called this my generational table setting... quilt from my maternal great grandmother, dishes from my mom and chargers from my daughter.  The heavenly scents of gardenias floated all around.

But, the best part of the day was seeing this one...

And, this one... There may have been a dessert overload.  LOL!

A Battleship War...

And Goosebumps for an afternoon movie... (love these beanbag chairs I found at Walmart for nap taking movie watching)  LOL!

It's been years since I've had any of my peeps for Mother's Day.  It was a wonderful gift having thse loves with us.  I am most grateful.  I also loved my phone calls, texts and cards.  I am blessed indeed.

Schultertuch / Dreieckstuch

This is the third one of the  Schultertuch / Dreieckstuch shawls I've made.  There are only a handful of patterns I will do more than once and  I'm already working on the fourth.

Some of that has to do with the fact it's easy to memorize, so absolutely meditative, rhythmic work.  Some has to do with the finished object.  I love it.

It has been perfect for these past couple of weeks when my mind has been so easily distracted.  Details of pattern and yarn are here:

Schultertuch / Dreieckstuch

While this is the pattern I have used, it originally had an English translation.  The translation has been removed.  Seems there was a big hoopla about who the designer was.  That said,  the shawl is the same as the Virus Shawl if you would like to try it.

I've also started two other projects this week along with the fourth one of these!  Hubby's surgery having imposed a quieter lifestyle for the moment has my needles and hooks busy!  LOL!
